About the Class: Tailored to artists with some painting experience to seasoned painters alike. Led by artist Jenny Hughes, prepare to embark on a transformative journey, refining your skills and unleashing your artistic vision.
We will begin by building the foundation of our autumn forest. You’ll learn how to plan your composition, create depth with layered backgrounds, and mix a beautiful autumn colour palette. We will focus on creating a soft atmospheric glow that sets the mood for the forest scene.
This week we will bring the forest to life by learning techniques for painting tree trunks, branches, and layers of foliage. We’ll explore how to create contrast, texture, and dimension while making the trees feel natural and realistic within the landscape.
Now we will focus on the magical element of the painting — the sunlight filtering through the trees. You’ll learn how to create glowing light effects, warm highlights, and the illusion of sun rays while balancing light and shadow to enhance the atmosphere.
In the final week, we will refine our paintings by adding the finishing touches that create depth and realism. We’ll enhance foliage, adjust values, add final highlights, and complete our autumn forest masterpiece with a beautiful sense of light and atmosphere.
